弗兰克·劳埃德·赖特 （英语：Frank Lloyd Wright，1867年6月8日－1959年4月9日），美国建筑师、室内设计师、作家、教育家。

赖特是20世纪上半叶最有影响的建筑师之一，设计了超过1000个建筑设计、其中完成了约500栋建筑。

赖特相信建筑的设计应该达到人类与环境之间的和谐，一套他称之为“有机建筑”的哲学。

有机建筑最佳的实例便是赖特所设计的落水山庄（1935年），曾被称许为“美国史上最伟大的建筑物”。

在赖特超过70年的建筑师生涯（1887年－1959年）中，设计了一系列各式建筑，包括办公室、教堂、摩天大楼、旅馆和博物馆，另外还包含许多室内物品的设计，如家具、花窗玻璃。

赖特一生著作二十本书与许多文章，并且是一位受欢迎的讲者。

生平 早年

1867年6月8日，弗兰克·劳埃德·赖特出生在美国威斯康辛州的乡村小镇里奇兰中心，那时美国内战刚刚结束两年。

他最初是被命名为弗兰克·林肯·赖特。

他的父亲威廉·凯里·赖特（1825年－1904年）是一个当地的演说者、音乐教师、临时律师。

威廉·赖特认识了安娜·劳埃德·琼斯（1838/1839年－1923年），安娜·琼斯是一名当地教师，曾经在里奇兰郡担任职务。两人后来结为夫妻。

来自马萨诸塞州的威廉原本曾是一名浸信会牧师，但加入了妻子的家庭后成为了一位论派的信徒。

安娜的家族是当地有名、一位论派的望族，家族自威尔士迁徙到威斯康辛。

安娜的其中一位兄弟詹金·劳埃德·琼斯是在美国西部传布一位论派的知名人物。

教育与席尔斯比事务所

赖特进入一间麦迪逊的中学，然而没有证据指示他有从中毕业。

1886年，他被威斯康辛大学麦迪逊分校录取。在学校里，他加入了“Phi Delta Theta”兄弟会。

半工半读的两个学期里，他为土木工程系的教授艾伦·D·康诺弗工作。

1887年，赖特没有取得学位就离开了学校（虽然他在1955年被授予了荣誉博士学位）。

1887年，赖特来到芝加哥找工作。由于1871年的芝加哥大火和最近的人口快速成长，这个城市有许多新的发展。

赖特之后回想起他对芝加哥的第一印象是肮脏的市区、拥挤的街道以及令人失望的建筑，但他打算在此谋职。

赖特与事务所其它绘图员相处得并不融洽。

在事务所工作的第一年里，他与同事有许多争吵。尽管如此，沙利文对于来特相当信赖，交付他许多工作。 赖特也对这位上司相当敬佩。表达对沙利文的尊敬，赖特用德语总称呼他为“崇敬的宗师（Lieber Meister）”。

在教会的活动中认识赖特认识了他第一任妻子凯萨琳·李·托宾（1871年－1959年）。相识约莫过了一年，两人就在1889年6月1日结为了夫妻。 对此沙利文给了赖特一份五年的合约，以表达金钱上的支持。赖特另外还做了一个要求：“沙利文先生，如果你要我为你工作五年，你能够借我一笔钱让我建一座小屋吗？”有了来自沙利文的 5000 美元资金，赖特挑了橡树园镇上的一角面对芝加哥大道的地点建造新居。

他的作品，直到1910年以后才被欧洲建筑师所了解。

欧洲和个人的困境

1904年，他为橡树公园的一位邻居Edwin Cheney设计了一座住宅，却意外地爱上了Cheney的妻子Mamah Borthwick Cheney。两人陷入热恋，尽管他已经结婚超过10年了。经常可以见到两人坐在赖特的汽车里穿过橡树公园，成为镇上的话题。
